Smartphones are becoming so mainstream that even the smaller carriers are now pushing them. Wirelessground.com reports that MetroPCS will soon offer a BlackBerry Curve with a very reasonably priced (as in, cheap) prepay plan. Cost may no longer be a reason to resist the lure of anywhere, anytime, and any kind of communication.

"The BlackBerry Curve 8530 is coming to MetroPCS. While this normally would be a blip on the radar screen, it does underscore an important reality emerging around us. Eventually, every cellular phone will be a smartphone. House phones are already dying off with entire families choosing to just go wireless. With discount carriers like MetroPCS starting to push BlackBerrys (albeit older models) at prices that are affordable and with unlimited plans for only $60 that include messaging and data, an exciting new world opens up for a lot of people..."
