Tax Day is one of the most stressful "holidays" of the year. To help take the sting out of paying Uncle Sam and relieve the anxiety of rushing to file on time, many stores and restaurants offer deals to mark the tax deadline -- Monday, April 18, this year. Celebrate sending in those pesky tax forms with these discounts and freebies.

GREAT AMERICAN COOKIES

Great American Cookies has been sweetening Tax Day for a few years now. On April 18, all customers who stop by participating stores get a free chocolate chip cookie (so long as the shop has them on hand) -- no purchase necessary.

KONA ICE

Kona Ice has another name for Tax Day: National Chill Out Day. The shaved-ice-truck franchise is offering a freebie to one and all.

OFFICE DEPOT

Safely dispose of all the sensitive documents that accumulate at tax time with free document shredding at Office Depot and Office Max. Visit the company's website to print a coupon for 5 pounds of shredding, valid through April 23.

TONY ROMA'S

Tax Day is a perfect time to treat yourself to something sweet. Diners at Tony Roma's steakhouses can pick up a coupon for a free red velvet cake dessert on their next visit. Members of the Tony Roma's Email Club will find coupons in their inboxes April 14 for a free dessert that can be enjoyed on Tax Day itself.

GOURMESSO

Gourmesso, a coffee capsule brand marketed as a cheaper Nespresso, is encouraging taxpayers to stock up on coffee and power through to the tax-filing deadline. The Tax Day Bundle goes for just over $57 (about 14 percent off) and features 140 capsules of some of the brand's strongest flavors, plus free shipping. The promotion is available until April 18.

HARD ROCK CAFÉ

Taxpayers with a habit of belting out tunes as a stress reliever won't want to miss Hard Rock Café's third annual Sing for Your Supper event. On April 18, visitors to the Hard Rock Café who sing a song onstage in front of the entire restaurant get a free Legendary Burger.

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE

April 14-18, diners and take-away customers at Outback Stackhouse restaurants can receive 15 percent off their food in honor of Tax Day. Go to the chain's website to print a coupon or download the app and enter the code TAX15.

BOSTON MARKET

Visit Boston Market on April 18 and get a half-chicken individual meal with two sides, cornbread, a regular fountain drink, and a cookie for $10.40 -- an homage to the 1040 tax forms, of course.

SCHLOTZKY'S

The café chain Schlotzky's is offering a break to ease grumpy moods and hungry stomachs April 18. Patrons at participating locations can enjoy "The Original" sandwich (an Italian-cold-cut-style sandwich with vegetables and melted cheeses) for free with the purchase of a 32-ounce drink and a bag of chips.

If ever there was a day that called for a stiff drink, Tax Day is it. Chili's is offering to ease the tension of April 18 with discounted Presidente Margaritas (with tequila, orange liqueur, and brandy) for $5 at participating restaurants.

HAND AND STONE

Unwind after turning in your return with a massage at the Hand Stone Massage and Facial Spa. At participating locations, visitors who choose a one-hour massage or facial on Tax Day receive a $10 discount. SONIC DRIVE-IN

Hungry taxpayers can save some of their refunds by visiting a Sonic Drive-In on April 18. Cheeseburgers will be half-price in honor of the day.

BRUEGGER'S BAGELS

For the second year in a row, the Bruegger's Bagels chain is offering a Tax Day bagel bonanza: a $10.40 bundle that includes 13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese.

BANANAS

The smoothie and frozen yogurt chain is featuring a special drink April 17-18 called "The CPA," a concoction of strawberries, bananas, and Red Bull Yellow Edition. It's free for anyone with a valid certified public accountant license.
