Pet owners, here's something to cheer about: cheap pet meds. Kivitv.com, based in Boise, ID, has the scoop on a way to lower the cost of medicines you might need for a sick pet. Apparently, you can fill a prescription written by a vet at many local pharmacies, some of which offer club cards that entitle you to medications -- even for your dog -- at a discount rate. This post suggests several other ways you might shave the price, such as asking for the generic version of the drug or checking to see if any organization you belong to happens to offer a savings program as a benefit of membership.

Here's another idea: Maybe you could try adding your pet to your health insurance policy as a dependent. If the animal is under 26, you never know...
