Cheap Grand Central Food
Our 10 Best and Cheapest Grand Central Station Eats
Just in case you think train stations and good food are an inherent contradiction, check out the cheap Grand Central Food. Manhattan's iconic train station, according to The Village Voice, serves up near-gourmet fare at budget prices at 44 food stalls.
This post picks its top 10 favorites, but we know there's no need to travel to the famed ethnic enclaves of Queens for culinarily-exciting cheap eats. Right here on Manhattan's east side you can taste your way through Japanese, Indian, Italian, and Mexican, then move on to deli and soup, and finish off with a capuccino, French pastry, and fresh fruit. And, you can buy all the fixings you need -- cheese, meat, fish, vegetables, pasta -- to prepare dinner once you get home.
Now, if you happen to find yourself over on the west side of Manhattan, waiting for an Amtrak train, New Jersey Transit, or the Long Island Railroad -- or for a game to start at Madison Square Garden -- you can wander through the fast- food corridors of Penn Station. The Voice nominated its top 10 there a few weeks ago, and we shared the bounty with you in one of our blog posts.
So hop on by and dig in.

Penn Station is awash in cheesy fast-food, and the rancid smell fills your nostrils as you run for the train. By contrast, the culinary offerings of Grand Central Station are much more effete - but scarcely more expensive..."
