Does cheap soap clean as well?
Cheap Dish Soap Just as Good as Brand Names
We told you last week that a test claimed generic batteries perform just as well as name-brand ones. Another story on Consumerist is asking a similar question: Does cheap soap clean as well?
According to a test by Consumer Reports, the cheap stuff does perform as well as brand-name dish soap. The top performers were Ajax and Costco's Kirkland Signature soaps. Each costs just $.06 an ounce.
Those commenting on the piece weren't so surprised that the answer to "Does cheap soap clean as well?" was "Yes." However, they noted that other factors contribute to their purchasing decisions, such as the effect the soap has on their hands and how it smells. Smelling like lilac outdoes getting tough on grease any day.
In your experience, does cheap soap clean as well?
