If you're looking for a cheap Washington, D.C. vacation, it'll be easier than you think. The capitol city is one with a lot of free museums and landmarks to fill your stay with substance while you save.

An AZCentral.com column points out that the Smithsonian's museums are free, as are the Holocaust Memorial, the Washington Monument, and Capitol tours. Cheap eats can be found at Cosi cafe and sandwich shops and Potbelly, in addition to street vendors. For cheaper accommodation, one commenter points out that a Hampton Inn over the border in Arlington, VA was cheap but chic.
