Cyber Monday Shopping Tips to Save Money
Cyber Monday Deals
Cyber Monday -- traditionally the Monday after Thanksgiving, a day that celebrates online shopping deals that was once considered the less important follow-on to Black Friday. That was then and this is now. In fact, according to a recent article by CNBC, experts are predicting that this year's Cyber Monday deals will be the same, or close to, those found on Black Friday. An appealing thought for bargain-hunting consumers wanting to avoid the crowds on Black Friday. And even if the deals aren't as great, for some, it's worth the wait. Take this shopper, who wrote on Amazon's Gold Box Forum about trading the frenzy of in-store shopping for the comforts of online shopping at home even if it meanspaying slightly higher prices. What's more, according to a survey conducted by Drop Down Deals, six out of 10 shoppers plan to do most of their shopping online this year, and forecasts are the average online shopper will spend $857.59.
Despite the high-volume online traffic expected this holiday season, surprisingly few online retailers have revealed their Cyber Monday deals. What you can find are sneak peaks without the actual prices. Target's Cyber Monday ad, for example, is packed with a lot of enticing pictures of items like a television, a futon, and a digital picture frame, but no prices. This seems to be the trend for a lot of online retailers. So instead of bringing you the best Cyber Monday deals we could find, we've compiled some tips to help you keep costs to a minimum come Cyber Monday.
Cyber Monday Tip: Shop Early.
If you're planning to shop online this year, take note: Cyber Monday isn't reserved for the Monday following Thanksgiving anymore. Many sites are starting Cyber Monday sales before Monday, with some stores offering their Black Friday deals online as of Friday and still others starting their Cyber Monday deals even earlier. For example, Sears claims its Cyber Monday has already started with 5 to 15 percent off already sale-priced items. Walmart just announced its first ever pre-Black Friday campaign with exclusive Black Friday-like deals on hundreds of items Monday through Wednesday of this week. Home Depot is already offering some Black Friday and Cyber Monday savings online and Amazon's Black Friday Deals Week (Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals all in one place all week) is well under way. The bottom line: There are deals everywhere right now. If you come across a great online deal, don't wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday -- snag it now or you could miss out.
Cyber Monday Tip: Seek Out Free Shipping.
While shopping the Cyber Monday deals, make sure you aren't paying for shipping. Shipping can add hefty extra costs, especially for big items. The good news for online shoppers? Many stores are offering shipping discounts and free shipping this holiday season. For example, Walmart is offering free shipping on electronic purchases of $45 or more through December 19th. Other stores are following suit, including Macy's, which is giving away free shipping with a purchase of $99 or more. Even if you don't qualify for free shipping, you won't necessarily have to pay this fee. Take a few minutes to review sites like FreeShipping.org for free shipping codes from many stores.
Cyber Monday Tip: Utilize Online Resources.
In order to find the best Cyber Monday (or in general cyber holiday) deals, use multiple online resources. We're big fans of two sites: CyberMondayDeals.com , where you can search deals by store, and DealsCyberMonday.org, a site that offers a ton of information, including the best deals from each store. You should also keep up with your favorite online retailers through social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.), where many stores are previewing Black Friday and Cyber Monday ads. In addition, a Washington Post article suggests signing up with coupon site LivingSocial for daily updates. The site will be revealing exceptional national deals (instead of the typical local deals) on Black Friday and another set of hot national deals on Cyber Monday, many of which are expected to be nearly 50 percent off.Savings.com Cyber Monday Deals:
