It's officially spring and retailers are preparing for warm weather and hotter sales. Find deals on everything from TVs to travel during April. Keep in mind that March deals on winter seasonal gear may be carried over into April, and though selection might be slimmer, the prices may be even more deeply discounted.

TVs.

Along with the December holidays, April may be the best time to buy a TV. As new models hit the showroom floor, retailers discount other televisions to make room, meaning you might score a cheap 3D TV in time to watch the March Madness finals. Plus, most Japanese manufacturers' fiscal year ends in March, and companies may push out their remaining TV inventory at deep discounts.

Laptops.

April is also a good time to buy laptop computers, possibly due to the same Japanese fiscal year incentive. Also, many new laptops come out in the springtime, and the introduction of faster processors or an updated laptop line (think Apple Macbooks) is your chance to buy a cheap laptop. In any case, as retailers face a lull in notebook sales after the holidays and before the back-to-school seasonal rush, you may be able to negotiate a better notebook deal.

Used cars and car accessories/parts.

April is National Car Care Month, so car parts stores and service centers will be running promotions to sell car accessories. If your car needs a tune-up, now may be the best time to get deals on car service or discount tires. In addition, used car dealers also stock up on inventory in April in anticipation of warm weather and spring car sales. This is your moment to beat the crowds for a better selection of used cars and dealers willing to negotiate.

Vacations

Spring is one of the best times of the year to travel, both for you and your wallet. Sandwiched between the winter and summer peak travel seasons, April offers pleasant weather and lower airfare and hotel stays for most of Europe and Asia. Take advantage of the travel shoulder season to enjoy cheap flights, hotel deals, and thinner tourist crowds. The travel deals extend to cruise vacations as well, so check Cheapism's recommendations for cheap cruises.

Vacuum cleaners.

The best time to buy vacuum cleaners is in spring, when stores advertise "spring cleaning" promotions and are eager to move out old vacuums and make way for new summer models. The Bissell 3950 Velocity Bagless Vacuum is our pick for the best cheap vacuum cleaner.

Thrift store finds.

Spring cleaning brings loads of donations to thrift stores, so take a break from your own cleaning to find new selections of secondhand clothing, home decor, and other deals. Smart thrift store shopping tips include buying off-season for the best selection and being prepared to try on clothing. Luckily, vintage clothing is always in style, and thrift stores are excellent sources of cheap home decoration.

Cookware.

With college graduations and weddings coming up soon, April is one of the best times to buy cookware. Retailers feature promotions on pots, pans, and cooking tools just in time for bridal showers and the start of wedding season. Cookware makes an excellent wedding gift, and don't forget that Mother's Day is just around the corner in May.

Food in season.

Eat fruits and vegetables in season for the best flavor and prices. In April, zucchini, asparagus, and artichokes are in season, and markets see the appearance of warmer-weather veggies like rhubarb and spring peas. Fruits like pineapple and mango are in full bloom.
