Thin and light laptops that cost less than $1000? No way, you say. But wait... The New York Times reports that by early summer there will be several new products on the market that meet these requirements.

"The MacBook Air. The Dell Adamo. The Voodoo Envy. They all fall into that "Nice Bling if You Can Afford It" category of super-thin and light laptops. But soon enough there should be some more affordable thin and light gear for the rest of us plebs.

According to Intel, which loves to champion new markets on behalf of its PC-making customers, a whole new crop of laptops will hit the shelves next month. These laptops will be less than one-inch thick and cost well under $1,000..."
