Getting back to basics is what it's all about these days. And that includes getting back into the kitchen. The Boston Herald reports on an adult education class that teaches students how to plan and prepare cheap meals and get every last penny out of whatever you cook -- although if it's a chicken in the pan, you can throw away the bones.

"Personal chef Karen Eddy says amateur cooks can save major bucks by boning up on basic skills. Her Boston Center for Adult Education class "Save Money With Home Cooking" cautions students against the financial perils of eating out willy-nilly and emphasizes using kitchen staples - both ingredients and tools - to plan low-cost menus for amateur chefs.
