THEY'RE GIVING THANKSGIVING

"Black Friday" deals are no longer confined to Black Friday. While families feast and enjoy time together this Thanksgiving, many of America's largest retail brands will open their doors to lure shoppers with early sales. According to a National Retail Federation survey, about a third of consumers shopped on Thanksgiving in 2014 (many online). In a few states, though, so-called blue laws prohibit stores from opening on holidays. And some companies push back against the pressure to start the retail season early, likely seeing an opportunity to burnish a family-friendly image. Here are 21 stores that close on Thanksgiving so workers can stay home and enjoy the holiday.

AMERICAN GIRL

American Girl's 22 U.S. retail stores and its seasonal locations and kiosks, as well as its corporate headquarters, close for Thanksgiving. The purveyor of dolls and other goods for girls has shut down on Thanksgiving every year since it opened in 1986. Black Friday hours vary by store.
