Samsung BD-P1600 Review
Samsung's BD-P1600 player isn't without its problems. It receives good marks from professional reviewers, but some customers note issues replaying some Blu-ray movies, and a handful of players stopped working prematurely. But when it does work, it works well. This is a 2.0 profile player that also supports Netflix and Pandora, a couple of nice extras at this price that aren't available in our top two picks. The BD-P1600 also supports many audio formats, including DTS-HD, Dolby Digital TrueHD, and Dolby Digital Plus.
Samsung's BD-P1600 is a solid player, but it's not without a few caveats. A Samsung BD-P1600 review on Engadget approvingly notes its support for Pandora and Netflix and that it's wireless-ready. Most BD-P1600 reviews by consumers are positive, however some report that recent firmware updates caused problems with their players, and others state that the player occasional has trouble playing some discs properly, including audio CDs and some Blu-ray movies.
The BD-P1600 supports the popular Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital TrueHD, and DTS-HD audio formats. Naturally, this player has an HDMI port, and you'll also find a component output and optical digital audio output on this machine. The BD-P1600's support for Netflix streaming video is a great bonus for Netflix subscribers.
