US Airways Review
Although US Airways reviews are mostly mixed, it still racks up a relatively decent score given the overall thrust of airline industry critiques. A prime example can be found in reviews at Epinions where many passengers gripe about the usual cancelled and delayed flights, but others report good experiences with luggage handling and customer service. Reviews at Airfare Watchdog continue along the same trajectory, with some travelers asserting the airline is a consistent good choice -- easy check-in, helpful counter agents, comfortable aircraft, courteous service -- while others proclaim the opposite -- indifferent response to delays and cancellations, superfluous charges, lost luggage, slow check-in. Most travelers who posted reviews at Yelp about the carrier's Philadelphia hub say baggage handling is fast and efficient although cancelled, delayed, and changed flights may cause luggage-related aggravation.
US Airways operates more than 3,100 flights a day to 132 destinations. Travelers are entitled to one free carry-on and personal item but must pay $25 for the first checked bag, $35 for the second, and $125 for the third; maximum weight for checked luggage is 50 pounds. Seats are 17 to 18.25 inches wide with a 30- to 32-inch pitch. Seats are assigned and passengers board by zone; early boarding and the choice of a better seat require an additional fee. Beverages are complimentary on all flights but snacks and meals come with a price tag.
Complaining about air travel has become like a blood sport these days. US Airways is hardly immune but the barbs seem duller, overall, than those lobbed at other carriers; indeed, plenty of US Airways reviews extol the service and efficiency and relatively modest baggage-check fees. US Airways is not truly a discount airline, but some flights on some days are a bargain worth grabbing.
