Canon FS200 Review
Canon has quite a reputation for making good cameras, and the full sized FS200 camcorder has some nice features for the price, including a 37X optical zoom; it records to SDHC flash cards, but doesn't record in HD and lacks image stabilization. Still, users say it's a cinch to use and records good video even in low light.
The Canon FS200 is a full-sized yet affordable budget camcorder that packs in a lot of features not found in smaller pocket camcorders. A CNET Canon FS200 review gives this model a Very Good rating for its compact size, support for an external mic and headphones, and excellent standard definition picture quality. Consumers posting Canon FS200 reviews at Overstock.com love how easy it is to use, and declare the FS200 to be a great value.
The Canon FS200 lacks only two things that one could want in a budget camcorder - the ability to record high-definition video, and image stabilization. Such features are available on more expensive full-sized camcorders but are hard to find in this price range. The FS200 does have 37X optical zoom, though, in addition to a good-sized 2.7-inch LCD, a USB 2.0 port, and support for SD/SDHC media.
Pocket camcorders aren't for everyone, and consumers looking for a good deal on a full-sized camcorder will find that they get a lot for their money with the Canon FS200. Although it doesn't record HD video, its standard-definition video quality is quite good, and for many users, standard-def video is just fine.
