BookRenter.com Review
This textbook site does primarily one thing, and does it well: low prices on textbook rentals for durations ranging between 30 and 125 days. Some users gripe about customer service but the free shipping in both directions has its appeal.
Although buying and selling books are options at this textbook website, renting is its DNA. BookRenter reviews at Reseller Ratings and Yahoo.
say prices are often cheaper than those you encounter elsewhere; for our sample of three textbooks we found that Bookrenter.com posted the lowest prices on two. Many BookRenter reviews indicate that students have turned to this textbook rental site more than once because it's easy to use, the books arrive on time and are in good condition. A BookRenter review by Make College Reality likes the free shipping in both directions and the generous extension policy. And yet, some BookRenter reviews caution that you won't get access codes or supplemental materials with rentals and a few carp about poor customer service and disagreements over rental returns that wind up costing customers money.
BookRenter.com holds an inventory of more than 5 million books. You can choose among five rental periods, from 30 to 125 days, and you can extend for as long as 90 days; if you decide to keep the book, you can buy it out. This site also lets you highlight or write notes in books, but don't go overboard. If books are not in really good condition when sent back, you'll be charged the buyout price; minor damage incurs a $15 fee. Outbound (standard delivery) and return shipping are free, as is expedited shipping for orders greater than $75. If your course of study changes, you have 21 days to return the book for a refund. If you start out wanting to buy a book from BookRenter.com, you'll be dealing with the site's marketplace vendors.
As numerous students attest, renting textbooks is an excellent option for getting books on the cheap, and BookRenter.com helps make that happen.
