Budget PCs come in all kinds of configurations, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one that's right for you. First thing's first: do you want an Intel CPU or one from AMD? Intel CPUs tend to be faster but are more expensive. AMD CPUs work just fine, and AMD-based systems tend to cost a little less than Intel-based models. Any budget PC you buy should have 4GB of RAM. As for hard drive space, that depends on you. If you're a digital files packrat with loads of videos, then the bigger the hard drive, the better. Budget PCs usually have at least a 500GB hard drive, and for many users, that's all they need. It seems that one thing just about all PCs could use more of is USB ports -- four is not enough, and six barely does the job anymore. Find a PC with eight or more ports and you should always have an open connection for whatever you want to attach to your PC. A budget PC with an integrated media card reader is a nice extra. Media card readers can read all kinds of media cards, and should be able to read just about any format you use.
