All the cheap dishwashers we researched are about 24 inches wide, but some have more internal space and higher capacities than others. The various cycles allow you to choose a setting based on what kind of dishes you're washing and how dirty they are. Typical cycles include pots and pans, normal, and heavy. Some dishwashers, even in the budget range, have a soil sensor that automatically chooses the proper cycle for your load. Options include things like heated dry and sanitizing rinse. Delay start lets you pre-set a cycle up to nine hours in advance. Almost all the cheap dishwashers on our list have noise levels around 60 decibels, about the same as a normal conversation. The Bosch Ascenta DLX SHE5AL02UC is the quietest, at 53 decibels.
