Coby DVD938 Review
A shockingly low price for the Coby DVD938, but we found too many critical reviews from users to recommend this product. Complaints range from the system's weak volume to poor sound quality to difficulties getting all the audio channels working. A few users say the system is a good value, but most simply don't like the product.
An HTiB for less than $100? Yeah, it sounds tempting, but users who bought into the Coby DVD938 bargain generally seemed to regret it. Best Buy users complain that the system's volume is not sufficient, and the quality of the DVD playback was less than stellar. Users also weren't impressed with the unit's audio quality. Amazon users were also underwhelmed, noting that they had difficulty setting up the system and getting all the audio channels working, and that its volume was only sufficient for a small room. Amazon.com users also didn't like the video quality from the cheap HTiB's DVD player.
The Coby DVD938 includes a DVD player, five satellite speakers, and a subwoofer. The system supports Dolby Digital audio, but not much else. As for connectivity, the DVD938 has one component video out, one coaxial digital audio output, and one analog audio input.
The DVD938's price may seem compelling, but the Coby DVD938 simply doesn't deliver on quality. It lacks too many features to be a compelling home theater product, and its quality is questionable.
