LG's LD450 series of TVs is a decent cheap model with good picture quality, but it does have a couple of shortcomings. Televisioninfo.com found that this TV's black levels were pretty poor, as was its contrast ratio. The result is that dark backgrounds won't look truly black, they'll be lighter than they should be. Another drawback of this set is its relatively small number of ports. It only has 2 HDMI ports, whereas most new LCD TVs have at least 3 if not 4. Having said that, Televisioninfo.com was very impressed with the TV's color accuracy, which was excellent according to the review's testing. Users at Amazon also appreciated the LD450's picture quality, as did users at Newegg.com.
The LD450 is a 1080p TV with a 60Hz refresh rate - a rate that's quickly disappearing in cheap LCD TVs as sets with 120Hz refresh rates become more affordable. The LG LD450 is a bit short on ports, with only 2 HDMI ports, 1 component port, a PC port, and a USB port.
If you are set on a smaller, no-frills LCD TV for less than $400, this is as good a model as you'll find. However, if high-quality black levels and a good contrast ratio are important to you, you'll have to spend a bit more.
