Sharp LC-40LE810UN Review
Sharp LC-40LE810UN

The Sharp LC-40LE810UN is a solid mid-priced LCD TV, although Sharp LC-40LE810UN reviews point to several flaws. Television Info says black levels are a bit weak and contrasts not sharp enough, although not to the extent of being a distraction. This Sharp LC-40LE810UN review also praises video playback, which isn't marred by a profusion of artifacts. Big Picture Big Sound offers a different perspective, saying black levels are decent for an LCD TV but the picture suffers from uneven uniformity and some color inaccuracy. This model uses quad-pixel technology, which adds yellow to the normal pixel palette of red, blue, and green. The colors are pretty enough, the Sharp LC-40LE810UN review continues, although you don't necessarily get the look you want even with lots of calibrating; the tint is off and blues look greenish. Consumers like the picture quality well enough, but some Sharp LC-40LE810UN reviews on Amazon note that the LED edge lighting is visible in dark scenes, audio is mediocre, and Web apps are disappointing and can be cumbersome to use.

This is a 46-inch, edge-lit LED LCD TV with a 120Hz refresh rate and full 1080p support. The Sharp LC-40LE810UN features several connection options, including four HDMI ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and component and composite connectors; these inputs are arrayed along the side of the screen and reviewers report that the weight of the connecting cables may loosen them from the ports. The LC-40LE810UN includes several Internet widgets and support for Netflix. It contains two built-in 10-watt speakers.

The Sharp LC-40LE810UN is a step up in price from the budget LCD TVs on our list but doesn't offer much more in the way of features or performance. It's got an edge-lit LED display (the new rage among LCD TVs), the 120Hz refresh rate keeps motion blur to a minimum, and its black levels are respectable. The biggest knock against this model is color accuracy; for the most frugal of consumers, though, the price may really knock it off their list.
