Another solid TV from Vizio, this 42-inch model is larger than most that fall into the sub-$600 price range and still features a fast 120Hz refresh rate. We're also sold on the Vizio E420VL's excellent color accuracy .

Vizio has earned a reputation of making affordable yet good LCD TVs, and the E420VL is a good example of this. Walmart.com users rave about this TV's picture quality using superlatives such as "fantastic," "unbelievable," and "outstanding." LCDTV.net feels the E420Vl does display accurate, vibrant colors, but the set's black levels could be deeper. Cnet.com also would like the E420VL to have deeper black levels, but likes its picture quality and the fact that this TV is pretty cheap for a model with a 120Hz refresh rate.

In addition to the E420VL's 120Hz refresh rate, it has 3 HDMI ports, 1 component connection, 1 composite, a USB port, and a PC port. Like most of the TVs we reviewed, the E420VL has a 1080p resolution.

This 42-inch model is reasonably priced and delivers a solid picture. Although the TV's black levels may not be perfect, the E420VL does have a fantastic picture quality overall, and its fast 120Hz refresh rate should ensure a smooth picture even during fast-action sequences.
