Worx TriVac WG500 Review
Worx TriVac WG500

For people who want the convenience of an all-in-one electric blower vac but consider changing nozzles a hassle, the Worx TriVac WG500 (starting at $76, Amazon) changes functions with the flip of a small lever. One nozzle is angled, which is supposed to make it easier to blow under patio furniture and decks as well as around shrubbery and other plants. However, some tall people, including a 6-foot-2 consumer who posted a Worx TriVac review on Amazon, find it difficult to use on level surfaces, because the angle makes it a bit too short to use without stooping.

At 8.4 pounds, the unit is light enough to carry around a yard. In Worx TriVac reviews on the manufacturer's website, even people who are elderly or have disabilities mention that they don't find it difficult to use. Yet, at 350 CFM and 210 mph, it has enough power to handle most light-duty yard work that is within the reach of the cord (or an extension cord). The Worx TriVac mulches at a 10:1 ratio and the bag holds 1.5 bushels. However, it has a plastic impeller, and the mulching function diminishes with every pebble or twig that gets sucked into the machine and nicks off a bit of the plastic, according to Worx TriVac reviews. Several people who have posted reviews at Home Depot mention that the strap that holds the bag is too long to stay on your shoulder for very long and suggest buying a collection bin instead. Although there are some complaints about the bag being difficult to attach and detach, there are surprisingly few reports of the bag ripping or getting holes in it, a common problem with cheap blower vacs. Consumers do warn that the bag gets a bit heavy as it fills with leaves.

The Worx TriVac WG500 operates at about 70 decibels, which is on the noisy side for an electric blower. However, very few people seem to have issues with the noise level. While it's difficult to recommend a blower/vac/mulcher with a plastic impeller when a more durable metal impeller can be had for the same price, this model has earned scores of positive reviews from users who call it powerful, lightweight, and easy to use.

This small, 9.4-pound blower packs a wallop with a strong, powerful engine that moves even wet leaves easily. In addition to its substantial power for the price, users like this electric blower vac's additional features, such as an oscillating tip, a leaf blaster, and a rake attachment. It can also reduce 16 bushels of leaves to a single bushel of mulch with its metal impeller. However, users complain that it is uncomfortably noisy at its highest speed. Read more »

Remarkably light, at 8.1 pounds, this is an easy-to-carry gas blower that isn't uber-powerful but can still take care of most chores around a deck, driveway, or small yard. It just might not do the trick on huge piles of leaves. Users say it starts within three pulls for the most part, and they like that its handle minimizes vibration. This machine does not meet California's emissions requirements, and while it's not noisy for a gas blower, it's still pretty loud. Read more »
