In more than 50 years of churning out its famous bricks, Lego has attracted a cult following among not only children but also teen and adult enthusiasts. Sets from series such as Star Wars and Harry Potter are highly collectible. To get the most for the money you spend on a Lego purchase, note the number of pieces and the number of minifigures you get for the price. Look more closely at those pieces as well. How specialized are they? Can they be repurposed for other builds? How rare are the minifigures? Consider your audience: Are you buying for a 40-something hobbyist or a rough-and-tumble child? The age recommendation on the box gives some indication whether a set will be too delicate or difficult for the latter.
