Lenovo L215p Review
Lenovo's L215p barely qualifies for the Cheapism price range, but we're glad it does. The L215p earns rave reviews from experts and users alike for its solid performance and image quality. The L215p is the only monitor among our top picks that includes built-in USB 2.0 ports (it has three, plus one that directs data from the other ports to the PC). This 21.5-inch display has a 1920x1080 resolution for high-definition video, an HDMI port, and a speedy 5ms response time.
The Lenovo L215p sits at the high end of our Cheapism price range, but it also has more features than the rest of the monitors in our lineup. Moreover, Lenovo didn't cut corners on the Lenovo L215p's image quality. According to Lenovo L215p review, PC Magazine editors are pleased with the image quality of the L215p, noting the display's accurate gray levels and sharp images, and the absence of ghosting issues. In another Lenovo L215p review, PC World editors likewise are impressed with the L215p, and point to its accurate colors and clear text. A CNET Lenovo L215p review declares that the Lenovo L215p earned an almost perfect score in color testing, an impressive feat for such an affordable monitor.
There are three things that set the Lenovo L215p apart from the other monitors we examined. First, this monitor includes three USB 2.0 ports that you can use to connect to other USB devices; none of our other picks include USB ports. Also, the Lenovo L215p has an optional "soundbar," or set of speakers, that you can connect directly to the display if you feel so inclined. Perhaps the most curious thing about this display is its lack of a DVI port. DVI ports are nearly universally available on monitors, and it's odd that Lenovo didn't include one here. The Lenovo L215p does have an HDMI port -- a definite plus -- and it also includes a VGA port. This Lenovo model is a 21.5-inch display with a high-def 1920x1080 resolution and 5ms black-to-white-to-black response time.
The Lenovo L215p is a good monitor if you don't mind its lack of a DVI port- a curious omission given that a DVI port is practically standard on monitors these days. But it has more features than most monitors in this affordable price range. It may be cheap, but it doesn't stint on video quality.
