BlackBerry Bold 9780 Review
BlackBerry Bold 9780

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 (starting at $50/T-Mobile) is an upgrade from the popular BlackBerry Bold 9700. PC World's BlackBerry Bold 9780 review gives it a rating of four stars out of five. These experts particularly like the Bold 9780's email capabilities and physical keyboard -- all longstanding strong suits for BlackBerry smartphones -- and say the BlackBerry OS 6 is a big step forward. Other virtues include excellent clarity during phone calls and impressive battery life. Infosynchworld.com says in its BlackBerry 9780 review that sound quality rivals what you get in top-of-the-line BlackBerry phones and the battery was still going strong after a day of using a full array of features, including the camera and browsing functions. Reviewers also say the Bold 9780's camera is surprisingly good. On the other hand, BlackBerry Bold 9780 reviews note that the web browser doesn't display pages nearly as well as models produced by top competitors, a common weakness in BlackBerry devices.

The Blackberry Bold 9780 features a small 2.4-inch screen with 480x360 resolution; camera resolution is 5 mp. This is a 3G phone, so there's no connecting to 4G networks, but the Bold 9780 does support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. It also has a physical QWERTY keyboard and an optical trackpad. It's available through T-Mobile.

This BlackBerry is about on par with the BlackBerry Torch except that it lacks a full-sized screen. That design element, plus its low resolution and middling browser make the Bold 9780 seem outdated compared to the sexy full-screen touchpad phones beginning to dominate the market.
