Treadmill Deals

It's easier and more affordable than you think to bring your outdoor workouts inside with a cheap treadmill. Treadmills don't have to cost a fortune, and treadmill deals can easily be found at major retailers, fitness equipment retailers, deal sites, and coupon sites.
The best time to land a treadmills deal is late November/early December when the holiday shopping season kicks into gear. Getting in shape is an ever-popular New Year's resolution and treadmill retailers vie with gyms for your business, so you could find yourself a deep treadmill discount come January. Another ideal time to snag a treadmill deal is the spring, when retailers are clearing out inventory to make room for outdoor sporting and fitness equipment.

If you're a frugal fitness fanatic, start the search by checking for treadmill deals on fitness and treadmill specific sites, such as Treadmill World and Treadmill-Direct.com where you can search by price, brand, rating, features, workout programs, sales, and clearance items. AmericanFitness.net and HorizonFitnessOutlet.com provide easy access to treadmill deals with a specific category for these machines. Sports Authority has an outlet section on its site dedicated to fitness and fitness equipment that often has a host of treadmill deals, while SmoothFitness has a clearance section worth checking out; note, though, that some deals on this site may feature units that are already opened, and you may have to call for exact pricing.

Many large general-merchandise retailers also offer numerous treadmill deals. Sears and Kmart, for example, both feature discounted treadmills under the "Fitness and Sports" category. Walmart has a "Sports and Fitness" category, as well, and many of the cheap treadmills can be shipped to the store for free; all you need do is designate which store location you want to pick it up from and then arrange a way to transport it home. At SearsOutlet, look under the "Sporting Goods" section and then find the "Treadmills" category where many deals are found. Be on the lookout, though, because many deals on this site are for reconditioned models as well as new ones that are unboxed, discontinued, or overstock. At Target, a search using the word "treadmill" reveals numerous deals and you can browse by price, rating, or by special offers, such as free shipping; at Best Buy you can shop by price, brand, or special offers. Amazon is a good online resource for treadmills; try a search of the "Sports and Outdoors" department for the best deals and then search by price, brand, and consumer rating, and read buyer reviews on models that interest you.

When scoping out treadmill deals on deal and coupon sites you can scour the "Exercise Equipment," "Fitness," and "Sports" sections or search using the word "treadmill." Here are some links to treadmill deals we found on DealTime, DealCatcher, CheapUncle, FatWallet, and MyCoupons. These links showcase deals on treadmills for as low as $119, for 50 percent off, for free shipping, and for other special offers. On Deals.com you can browse the "Exercise Equipment" category for deals such as free shipping and up to 70 percent off from retailers that sell exercise equipment. A treadmill search at PriceGrabber reveals multiple deals and allows you to compare prices, deals, and specs among retailers, while a treadmill search at SlickDeals brings up treadmill buying and deal tips from other consumers in the forum.

One final source for treadmill deals is Craigslist. Search by your city to find high-end second-hand treadmills, such as those previously used in gyms. These upmarket treadmills are better bets for serious runners or multiple runners in one household but, when new, are often priced well above the Cheapism range.

Don't Bother Cheap Treadmill

Weslo Cadence G-40

This ultra-low-cost option satisfies casual exercisers who don't want to commit to a more expensive machine. Its narrow belt and relatively weak motor make it unsuitable for running, and it comes with only a 90-day warranty. Read more »
