Vacuum Deals

Consumers can find vacuum deals year-round, but not always readily. You typically have to do some digging to find a good deal, and if you can hold off until the spring to purchase a new vacuum, that's your best bet for vacuum deals.

Between April and the beginning of June -- just in time for spring cleaning -- retailers are eager to clear their shelves and make room for the new models manufacturers release every June.

Smart shoppers search far and wide for vacuum deals. Often a good way to start is by scouring the offerings on clearance at popular home-goods retailers. Target lets frugal consumers narrow their search to clearance, price cut, and sale items. A search for vacuum deals at Walmart reveals a selection of vacuums for "Rollback" prices, some as low as $45. It's always helpful to sort search results by price so you can see the lowest prices in the category. Sears and the Sears Outlet, Home Depot, Best Buy, and Kmart all let you browse vacuum deals based on price, type, brand, and other features. On the vacuum cleaners page at Lowe's, you can search for the vacuums with the highest ratings in user reviews, which makes it easy to zero in on the models other consumers like best.

Vacuums seem to be a tough product for retailers to categorize; you may need to search several categories to locate vacuum deals. For example, US Appliance lists vacuums under a category called "Dishwashers +" and finding a vacuum on Newegg requires searching the site with the term "vacuums." In most cases, however, the categorization is more intuitive. Vacuum deals are often filed under "Appliances," as on Abt, where we saw numerous models priced under $100, including several with very high user ratings. On Amazon, vacuum cleaners are found in the "Home and Kitchen" department, and you can search for vacuum deals based on a number of features, including color. Overstock.com, another popular online retailer, lists vacuum deals in "Housewares," a sub-category of "Home and Garden." AJ Madison gives vacuums its own category tab.

There are many deals to be found on vacuum-specific sites as well. For example, discount vacuum retailer VCDiscounter has a clearance section that includes a Hoover Tempo Bagless Upright Vacuum for just $80. Note that this site sells reconditioned vacuums in addition to new vacuums, so make sure you know what you're getting. GoVacuum.com also specializes in vacuums. Refine your search based on price to find the best vacuum deals. Cheap vacuums can also be found at AllBrands.com, a website that specializes in vacuums, sewing machines, and other appliances. The "Specials/Closeout" section is worth a look. Some items on the site are floor models or say "Factory Serviced," which can mean they have slight blemishes or have been returned for various reasons. Demo vacuums and new overstock items also carry the "Factory Serviced" label.

Checking deal sites, coupon sites, and comparison sites is a best practice when shopping for anything on a budget, and vacuums are no different. Some helpful sites for finding vacuum deals are FatWallet, DealNews, and DealCatcher, where we found a deal for 30% off LG vacuums at Newegg, with free shipping. Useful coupon sites include CouponCabin, MyCoupons, Deals.com, and CouponCraze. The coupon codes on these sites range from free shipping to 10% off. Finally, you can compare prices on sites such as PriceGrabber to find vacuum deals you might otherwise miss. On all of these sites, we used the search terms "vacuum," "vacuums," and "vacuum cleaners" to find the best vacuum deals.
