Dollar General is being a jolly good retailer this time of the year, trying to help you stretch things a little further while you cover gifts, groceries, and holiday basics. The retailer announced on Dec. 1 that it’s bringing back its 24 Days of Savings event, offering one in-store deal each day through Christmas Eve.

The deals run through Dec. 24; each offer is tied to a single day and ends when the item sells out. There will be no rain checks, so availability depends entirely on your local store. DG will also do weekly three-day sales layered into the same period with additional toy and gift card discounts.

“We recognize the dollar price point is important in helping customers stretch their budget, especially at the end of the month when funds may be limited,” said Bryan Wheeler, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. “Our $1 finds include great stocking stuffers, gift wrap, ornaments and more.”

What’s on Sale?

Store shelves are stocked with Christmas decorations, including lights, ornaments, bows, figurines, and gift bags. Most items have red or holiday-themed packaging, creating a festive display.

Dollar General highlighted several of the one-day discounts in its announcement:

  • 50% off 6′ pre-lit holiday trees
  • 30% off Roblox gift cards
  • 2 for $3 Pillsbury cinnamon rolls
  • $1.50 Pepsi or Mountain Dew two-liters
  • $5 True Living 18-gallon tote
  • $4.50 DiGiorno Rising Crust pizza
  • $1 holiday gift bags and wrapping paper
  • $15 jumbo plush
  • 50% off Roughneck tools

The company also says it keeps more than 2,000 items priced at $1 or less, with more than 150 of those in the holiday section — stocking stuffers, ornaments, wrapping supplies, and other small add-ons.

How Good Are the Discounts?

Groceries and holiday basics are most likely to see the biggest price drops and tend to have reliable stock early in the month. Seasonal decor and small home items vary by location, and high-demand deals can sell out quickly.

Because the deal changes every day — and everything is “while supplies last” — it helps to check the Dollar General app or website before you head out. The weekly list usually goes live on Sundays, and it gives you a sense of which days are worth the trip. Also, DG runs other promos at the same time, and you might catch an unadvertised markdown or a cheaper grocery staple while you’re already in the aisle.
