Despite searching high and low, we found very few dishwasher deals. So if you're in the market for a new dishwasher, you'll really need to dig deep for dishwasher deals.

The good news about dishwasher deals is that you can afford to wait for a good deal to come along. Whether you're replacing a broken dishwasher or installing one where there's never been one before, a dishwasher is an optional appliance -- hand washing the dishes while you seek out good dishwasher deals is always an alternative.

The best time of year to search for dishwasher deals is the fall, from September through November. This is when new appliance models are introduced and retailers are eager to clear out their inventory of older models. Money Crashers also suggests shopping holiday sales, such as Black Friday, Veterans Day, Columbus Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, when stores are more likely to offer discounts.

Frugal shoppers look for dishwasher deals in multiple places. One place to start are outlet retailers, such as SearsOutlet, where you can find overstock or scratched/dented appliances with damage so minimal it's barely noticeable but the price is marked down by up to hundreds of dollars. Also keep an eye out for occasional dishwasher deals at appliance retailers such as Lowe's, Sears, Home Depot, and Best Buy. All of these stores let you search dishwasher deals by price, brand, feature set, color, size, and multiple other criteria -- even user ratings, which provide helpful consumer feedback. These sites offer a plethora of choices, all below the $500 Cheapism price niche.

Online retailers also offer dishwasher deals, although be sure to consult the shipping rates before making a purchase. AJ Madison and US Appliance, for example, offer free shipping if you spend $999 or more, while Abt offers free shipping on thousands of items including select dishwashers. Amazon has a number of dishwasher deals on a regular basis and offers free Amazon Prime shipping on several models -- worth a look, especially if you're an Amazon Prime member.

On retailer sites dishwasher deals are typically found under the "Appliances" or "Kitchen" category and occasionally given their own category. For deal sites, comparison sites, and coupon sites it's best to search using the term "dishwasher" or "dishwashers".

A quick search of deal sites FatWallet and DealPlumber reveals dishwasher deals for as much as $200 off and prices as low as $229. Comparison sites such as PriceGrabber, DealCatcher, Shopping.com, and DealNews offer quick price comparisons, sometimes for as many as ten retailers, to help you find the best dishwasher deals. Although CouponCabin is a coupon site, for dishwasher deals it gives you price comparisons instead of actual coupons. Coupon sites are worth checking for retailer coupons or dishwasher coupons. CouponCraze and MyCoupons both offer retailer coupons for the likes of Sears and AJ Madison.
