Staff Writer, Consumer News/Personal Finance

Your Role

  • Pursue story ideas vetted by editors and supply copy that is informative, lively, clean, well-sourced, and delivered on deadline.
  • Be available to respond to breaking news events by writing or updating related stories.
  • Generate pitches for engaging slideshows and articles that catch the interest of our audience on Cheapism and in syndication.
  • Promote your work and our brand on social media.

Your Qualifications

  • 3-5 years professional writing and/or editing experience (journalism background preferred)
  • Experience covering consumer news/personal finance or related topics
  • Experience working in content management systems
  • Strict attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with AP style
  • Social-media savvy
  • College degree

Bonus points for familiarity with Trello and SEO best practices.
