Since 1915, AAA has been providing roadside assistance to motorists nationwide. If you get a flat tire or break down on the side of the road, a quick call to their hotline will send help whenever you need it.
However, while most people associate AAA with roadside service, several other benefits come with membership that many people — including members themselves — are unaware of. Here’s some of the more unique perks that come along with a AAA membership.
ID Theft Monitoring
It seems like no information on the internet is safe anymore, including your credit and identity. Members of AAA can enroll in ProtectMyID, an Experian identity protection program, for free. This program offers credit monitoring and dark web surveillance, among other benefits. Members can also purchase higher tier levels of ID theft monitoring at a discounted rate.
Car Lockouts
If you’ve ever locked your keys in your car, you know how frustrating that is. If you’re an AAA member, getting back into your locked car is part of your roadside service. If a locksmith is necessary, you’ll get some reimbursement back depending on the level of membership you have. Plus, if you’re a Premier AAA member, you’ll get $100 reimbursement for a locksmith if you lock yourself out of your home, too.
Career Building Assistance
AAA has partnered with Intoo, an online career transition service. Members of AAA can sign up for a free Intoo account, which offers a job search platform, resume development tools, interview practice tools, self-assessments, and workshops.
Travel Planning
Booking vacations and travel can be time-consuming, especially when trying to secure the best deals. However, AAA offers its members travel planning services and travel agents to ensure a smooth travel experience. Plus, you can get your travel insurance through the company. And remember TripTiks? Now those road trip planners and maps are all in a mobile app for members.
Bicycle Service
Think AAA only deals with cars, trucks, and motorcycles? Nope, they’ll cover you if your bicycle breaks down, too. Just call the number on your card (or use the company’s mobile app) for roadside assistance, and they’ll send someone out to transport you back home or to a repair shop.
While they won’t carry the equipment necessary to inflate your bicycle tire or make repairs, it’s still a valuable service.

Teaching a teen to drive can be a challenge for the entire family. Teens whose parents are AAA members can access a number of new driver education programs, including online and in-person classes and seminars, depending on your location. Plus, there’s driver education and safety programs for business drivers and defensive driving courses for senior drivers.
Passport Photos and Expedited Service
Every AAA member can get discounted passport photos. Just head to a AAA branch office and have them taken care of. Additionally, the company has a partnership with Rush My Passport, a service provider that offers resources and assistance to expedite the passport application process, which can take several months. AAA members receive discounted services, including assistance with passport applications, tracking of passport or visa processes, and courier services.
