If you got holiday bark candy in your stocking or under the tree this year, it’s time to check the bag. The maker of Aldi’s holiday bark just issued a recall because of a packaging mix up, causing serious concern for food allergy sufferers. Here’s what you need to know about the recall, and what to do if you have the affected product.

What’s Wrong with the Holiday Bark?

The recalled Aldi holiday bark products do not have the correct allergen information printed on the packaging. That could lead to someone unknowingly eating something they’re seriously allergic to.

The allergens aren’t labeled correctly because the holiday bark candy was packaged in the wrong bag. Some of the products contain pecans and some contain wheat, both of which are missing from the package’s list of allergens.

An investigation into the problem revealed that it was “caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging process,” according to a recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Thankfully, there have been no illnesses reported.

Which Products Were Recalled?
