While some grocery chains are hiking prices due to tariffs and inflation, Aldi is going the opposite way.
The discount giant is cutting prices on hundreds of items this summer, and the discounts are already in effect.

What Is Aldi Doing?
On June 5, the German discount grocer announced it’s dropping prices on more than 400 products across its stores nationwide. That accounts for nearly a quarter of its in-store selection.
“At a time when two-thirds of Americans are very concerned about the cost of groceries, Aldi is doing what others can’t: dropping prices across its aisles,” the company said in a statement.
“Our customers count on Aldi for the lowest prices of any national grocer, every day, and we never take that trust for granted,” said Aldi U.S. CEO Jason Hart. “While customers may see higher prices at other retailers, we’re working hard to unlock even more value for our shoppers, just in time for summer’s lineup of holidays and gatherings where food takes center stage.”
When and Where Are Prices Dropping?
The discounts began in early June and will stay in place through Labor Day, which falls on September 2, 2025. Price drops apply to every Aldi store across the country — more than 2,400 in total.
The company said the reductions are available in-store, and shoppers should expect to see lower prices clearly marked on shelves.
What Products Are Included?
Aldi didn’t publish a full list, but says the discounts include a wide range of everyday items and seasonal goods. That includes fresh meat like grass-fed ground beef and baby back ribs, organic produce like nectarines, and pantry staples, snacks, and drinks like Summit Popz prebiotic sodas.
“Value isn’t a trend at ALDI. It’s been in our DNA since we opened our first store nearly 50 years ago,” added Scott Patton, ALDI Chief Commercial Officer. “This summer, we’re going further to deliver more of what sets us apart, great products at the lowest possible prices.
Who’s Saving, and How Much?
According to a recent Pew Research Center survey Aldi cited, 66% of Americans say grocery costs are a major concern. Aldi says the summer cuts will save customers around $100 million. That’s in addition to the $8.3 billion the company claims its shoppers already save each year by avoiding traditional grocery markups.
