If you upgraded your iPhone recently to get your hands on the latest AI capabilities, you might be owed a piece of a $250 million legal payout from Apple’s new settlement. The tech giant has reached a proposed settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit claiming the company oversold the timeline for its much-hyped “Enhanced Siri” features.

The lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of California, argued that Apple’s marketing machine convinced millions of consumers to buy premium hardware based on artificial intelligence features that simply hadn’t arrived yet. While Apple hasn’t admitted to any wrongdoing, the settlement, according to the tech company, is an effort to stay focused on product development rather than a lengthy court battle. (How thoughtful.)

Are You Eligible For Apple’s Settlement?

The settlement isn’t for every iPhone user. It’s only for those who purchased the most recent high-end models during the height of the AI marketing push. You may be eligible if you bought any of the following between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025:

  • iPhone 16 (all models)
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

Court filings suggest that approximately 37 million iPhone owners fall into this window.

Eligible users are expected to receive a payment of at least $25 per device. Depending on how many people actually file a claim, that amount could fluctuate, reaching a maximum of $95 per device.

How to Claim Your Cash

You don’t need to do anything immediately. If you are part of the eligible group, you should keep an eye on your inbox and mailbox. Here’s what’s going to happen.

  • Notification: Apple and the settlement administrators will be reaching out via email and traditional mail to notify eligible buyers.
  • The Website: A dedicated settlement portal is expected to go live in the coming weeks. This site will host the official claim form and a support line for questions.
  • Next Steps: Once the site is live, you’ll likely just need to provide your device’s serial number or proof of purchase to get on the list.
