The chemicals found present in the medication are nitrosamines, also known as “N-nitroso Prazosin impurity C.” According to the enforcement report, these chemicals are “above the Carcinogenic Potency Categorization Approach (CPCA) acceptable intake limit,” as tested by a cGMP Deviation Investigation

This is a Class II risk, which the FDA says “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Talk to your doctor about exchanging the medication for a non-recalled version. Though Teva hasn’t offered specific guidance, GoodRx has some insight into how to navigate a drug recall. Above all, talk to your prescriber about the best course of action.
