Former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis certainly left her mark on the White House. Now the Georgetown mansion where she lived after leaving the presidential home has hit the market for a colossal $26.5 million. It’s an eye-popping price even for that tony neighborhood, where the median selling price last month was $1.8 million, according to Realtor.com.

The 1794-built red brick mansion — which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places — served as the former first lady’s home after the assassination of her husband, former President John F. Kennedy. After the Kennedy family relocated, the home underwent a renovation to combine it with two neighboring residences, creating an enormous 16,300-square-foot, 13-bedroom manor.

The entry hall, living room, and wood-paneled library are all reminiscent of their original appearance, according to the listing, and the fireplaces throughout the home are original. The lavish home also includes 13 spa-like full bathrooms, five partial bathrooms, gold leaf ceilings, a reception hall, and extravagant fixtures and moldings.

Listing agent Jonathan Taylor of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty told The Wall Street Journal that if the famous mansion sells for its asking price, it could become the most expensive home ever sold in Washington.
