IHOP is hoping to make your holidays a little brighter by loading you up on pancakes. The chain is bringing back its popular kids eat free deal, so it’s the perfect time to treat the family to a meal out — and who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? If you want to score some free flapjacks, here’s what you need to know.

What’s the Kids Eat Free IHOP Deal?

IHOP runs kids eat free deals relatively often, and we love them for that. If you’ve taken advantage of those deals before, this one’s no different.

From now through December 21, children will get a free kids meal when they’re with an adult that purchases an adult entree at regular menu price. That’s almost three weeks of free meal time to get in on the action.

And if you’re hoping to game the system and get a free kids meal for yourself as a 19-year-old broke college student, think again. The age cut off for kids is 12.

What’s the Catch?

Of course, no deal is without a catch. You have to buy an adult entree in order to get the free kids meal, but that’s pretty standard in these kids-eat-free deals.

There are a couple other less standard caveats, though. You have to go to IHOP between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. in order to get it. That means no free breakfast, at least during breakfast hours, which is kind of a bummer. The chain is probably just trying to drum up business when it’s usually less busy.

The other big catch is that you can only get one free kids meal for each adult entree purchased. So if your family has more kids than adults, you’re going to be paying for some of those kids meals. Like one commenter on a TikTok said about the deal, “This only works for small families.”

What’s on the IHOP Kids Menu?

All that aside, “free” is still a great deal if it works out for your family. And your kids don’t have to get just pancakes, either: They can order any kids meal on the menu. Here’s what’s currently available:

  • Happy face pancake
  • French toast sticks
  • Junior waffle
  • Junior cheeseburger
  • Junior chicken strips
  • Junior breakfast quesadilla
  • Junior protein pancake
  • Junior cinnamon dippers
  • Junior cupcake pancake
  • Kraft mac and cheese
  • 5 silver dollar pancakes

Each one comes with your choice of side, including options like strawberries and bananas, fries, hash browns, and a combo egg, bacon, and sausage. They’re all priced at $7, so it’s a pretty good deal.
