It’s the time of year when every grocery store starts unveiling its Thanksgiving meal bundle, and Kroger’s done just that. For under $5 per person, Kroger is offering a Thanksgiving ingredient basket for a 10-person dinner. Here’s what’s included in the Kroger Thanksgiving dinner and how it compares to meal kits offered by other grocery stores.

What Comes in Kroger’s Thanksgiving Meal Basket?

Kroger’s meal bundle serves 10 people and costs less than $50. While Kroger’s main statement says that it will cost $4.75 per person, my location says it will cost $4.85 per person. Check your store for the most accurate prices.

The basket includes:

  • Kroger Whole Frozen Turkey (14-16 pounds)
  • Kroger Turkey Stuffing
  • Kroger Chicken Broth
  • Kroger Super Sweet Corn
  • Kroger Baby Carrots
  • Kroger Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce
  • Sweet Jewel Yams
  • Kroger Idaho Potatoes
  • Campbell’s Turkey Gravy
  • Kroger French Sliced Green Beans
  • Kroger Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • Kroger Crispy French-Fried Onions
  • Kroger Brown and Serve Rolls
  • Kroger Traditional Ready-to-Bake Pie Crusts
  • Kroger 100% Pure Canned Pumpkin Puree
  • Kroger Original Whipped Topping

There are ingredients here to make a meal of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn, carrots, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, rolls, and pumpkin pie.

What Was Kroger’s Bundle Last Year?

Kroger’s bundle cost $4.85 per person (the same as this year in some locations) and included the same ingredients. If anybody can snag the basket for $4.75 per person, they’ll have saved 10 cents compared to last year.

How Does the Deal Compare to Other Retailers’ Deals?

Target

It’s hard to say definitively if Kroger’s Thanksgiving basket is a better deal than the ones at Walmart, Aldi, or Target. There are a lot of variables in each deal, and it’s hard to make one-to-one comparisons.

While Walmart’s deal is cheaper at only $4 per person, you don’t get the ingredients necessary for sweet potatoes. You do, however, get mac and cheese.

Aldi’s deal is essentially the same as Kroger’s, except it also offers mac and cheese, marshmallows for the sweet potatoes, and more fresh veggies.

Target is going smaller, with a meal for four that only costs $20. It comes with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, and rolls.

If you’re a small family, Target is the clear way to go, but if you’re serving 10 people, you may want to go with Aldi.

Is Kroger Offering Any Additional Thanksgiving Deals?
