There’s no such thing as a free lunch, unless you stop at Subway Tuesday between 10 a.m. and noon local time. Subway franchises will be giving away up to 1 million 6-inch subs.

It’s all part of the launch of a new menu that’s a big departure from the sandwich mega chain’s standard operating procedure. A lineup of 12 new subs, called the Subway Series, will have set toppings and sauces. You’ll be able to order by number or name, just like you would a combo meal at McDonald’s or a sandwich at Jimmy John’s.

While that might work for some people — you may love green peppers and chipotle sauce on your #2 The Outlaw — many people may find the set menu restrictive, especially considering Subway built its brand on sandwich customization. Luckily, customers will still be able to customize to their heart’s content if they prefer.

If you want to get your hands on one of the new Subway Series subs for free, you’ll have to be one of the first 50 people at your location to ask for one. While there may be some toppings included that are not your favorite, at least there are no strings attached to this free sub deal.
