While many retailers are struggling right now as wallets tighten, that’s not the case for one type of store. Discount and off-price chains are doing pretty well — and even opening new locations — as shoppers look to score the best bargains they can. One such chain includes TJ Maxx, which has store openings coming up in the next few weeks. Here are all the deets.
Why Is TJ Maxx Opening New Stores?

TJ Maxx, which is owned by the same company as Marshall’s and Home Goods, announced last year that it was going to open 1,300 new locations globally across all of its brands. As more department stores and big mall staples close, the company sees more opportunity to fill those holes in communities, selling everything from Korean beauty products to gourmet pantry staples. It’s just a bonus that TJ Maxx sells everything for much cheaper, as well.

There are six new TJ Maxx locations opening soon, according to the store’s grand openings list. Some are opening later this month, and some are opening in early November. All of them will be open by mid-November, just in time for the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping season.

Is Marshall’s Expanding Too?

Yes, TJ Maxx’s sister store, Marshall’s, also recently opened new locations, so there’s bound to be one of these off-price stores near you by now. Honestly, between Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, and Home Goods, we can barely tell the difference between the stores anymore. We’re equal opportunity bargain hunters.
