Trader Joe’s is beloved for a lot of things — orange chicken, chili onion crunch, and (of course) its mini sheet cakes. The grocery chain has released vanilla bean, chocolate, carrot, pumpkin, and strawberry versions of its little cakes, but its latest unveiling is perhaps the most exciting of them all: Cookies ‘n Cream. Go ahead —you can start drooling now.

Trader Joe’s New Mini Sheet Cake

There are plenty of ways to interpret Cookies ‘n Cream, and a lot of them lean all the way into a chocolate palate. For its newest mini sheet cake, TJ’s decided to offer something more balanced, opting for a moist vanilla cake and emphasizing the cookies and cream profile in the frosting only. From the looks of it, the frosting includes a generous amount of crushed chocolate sandwich creme cookies, too.

How Much Does the Cookies ‘n Cream Mini Sheet Cake Cost?

Like Trader Joe’s other mini sheet cakes, the Cookies ‘n Cream variety costs $5.99. Because it’s a limited-time flavor option, you might not find it at your local Trader Joe’s just yet, but it’s steadily rolling out in stores across the country.

What Are Shoppers Saying?

On a Reddit thread discussing the new cake, a good amount of the excitement came from folks who haven’t had the chance to try the new flavor yet. Comments like, “Omggg everyone runnnn now!!!” and “Looks positively deadly” were rampant, but plenty of people who actually tried the cake weren’t as over-the-moon about it.

One user wrote, “It was pretty disappointing to be honest,” and multiple people commented that it was dry and dense. One TJ’s shopper compared it to a Little Debbie cupcake that had been left on the counter for a couple of hours … yikes.

Of course, as with anything, the reviews were mixed. Some who tried the cake loved it — one Redditor said that it’s Trader Joe’s best sheet cake flavor yet, and another agreed with them, saying they ate a third in one sitting (relatable).

A viral taste test of the cake on TikTok revealed that it’s a dense cake. The TikToker said they would’ve expected chocolate cake as the base, but he still mentioned (multiple times) that he loves it. We’re thinking with some gummy worms on top, this could be a makeshift dirt cake, and it’s on our list to try.
