Valentine’s Day is one of the worst days to go out to dinner. Every restaurant is crowded, all the reservations are full, and the worst part: Everything’s more expensive than any other day.
That’s why you should absolutely take your sweetie to Waffle House this February 14th. It is a judgment-free zone, so if you show up in your pajamas or a ballgown, no one will bat an eyelash. You’ll have less stress, spend way less money, and we bet you’ll have way more fun than a typical Valentine’s Day date, too. Here are all the deets so you can treat your special someone.
What Does Waffle House Do for Valentine’s Day?
Waffle House goes all out for Valentine’s Day, with participating locations rolling out tablecloths and cute decorations to create a fun and memorable experience for couples, families, or whoever else wants to celebrate love on February 14th.
The tradition started in 2008 at a Waffle House location in John’s Creek, Georgia. Employees there noticed that they were very busy on Valentine’s Day every year, so the manager decided to do it up and make the night special for everyone.
Each Waffle House that participates can celebrate the day anyway they want. Some employees go all out with decor and special menu additions, and some keep things a little more low key. No matter what, you can be sure it’ll still be a classic WH experience, complete with pecan waffles, piles of hash browns, and patty melts.
How Do I Make a Reservation?
If you want a smothered, covered, and chunked Valentine’s Day, you need to do something you can’t do any other day of the year: Make a reservation at Waffle House.

This year, 218 Waffle House locations across 22 states will be holding V-Day celebrations and will accept reservations. To see if your nearby location is included, check the list of participating restaurants on the WH website. If it is, you can hit the “CLICK HERE” link at the top of the list to make a reservation online.
We’re all for celebrating silly, generally expensive holidays in non-traditional ways, so dinner at Waffle House is right up our alley. Others agree.
“My partner and I did this. It was cute & fun,” said one Redditor about their WH V-Day experience. “Find yourself a person who finds things like this as fun & not so serious.”
