If you’ve ever found yourself in a hospital waiting room or a 3:00 a.m. study session thinking, “What this moment really needs is a sack of sliders,” the universe has finally heard you.
White Castle is officially leaning into its “Night Castle” persona by rolling out Crave & Go automated kiosks in 1,000 nontraditional locations. We’re talking hospitals, corporate campuses, and colleges — places where the food options are usually limited to a sad, refrigerated wrap or a bag of stale pretzels. Now, you can get a hot, on-demand slider from a machine that probably won’t judge your life choices as much as a human cashier would.
How Will the Vending Machines Work?
Partnering with Automated Retail Technologies (ART), White Castle is deploying these high-tech vending machines to meet customers exactly where their “cravings strike.” The platform prepares hot food for guests on demand, and is designed to bring the White Castle experience to areas where a traditional restaurant just wouldn’t fit.
The rollout has already begun, and the brand plans to accelerate through 2026. If the pilot goes well, they’re even looking at designing “automated-only” menu items specifically for these kiosks.
Now, let’s be honest: White Castle has always been the champion of the budget-conscious foodie. In an economy where a “basic” fast-food combo is creeping toward $15, the slider remains one of the few truly affordable luxuries left.
By cutting out the overhead of a full-scale restaurant — no dining room to clean, no massive staff to manage — these kiosks are the peak of efficiency. For the consumer, it means access to a hot meal for a few bucks without having to pay a $10 delivery fee and a 20% tip just to get a burger sent to a hospital lobby.
The ‘Night Castle’ Lifestyle
White Castle recently revealed that 72% of its locations are open 24/7, and the data shows we are a nation of late-night snackers. Between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., items like cheese fries, Chicken Rings, and Fudge-Dipped Brownies On-A-Stick fly off the shelves.
The Crave & Go kiosks essentially take that 24/7 “Night Castle” energy and bottle it up in a machine. Whether you’re working a double shift at the clinic or pulling an all-nighter for finals, you’re now only a few buttons away from a box of sliders.
