Reddit

When mealtime rolls around, many people look forward to a dish they’ve been thinking about, perhaps since they were asleep, or, in the case of dinner, while they were at work. However, the dishes from Reddit that we are about to show you aren’t exactly appetizing; instead, they are fascinatingly examples of bizarre food that are both bizarre and amusing. Check them out below!

One Solid Piece Of Garlic

A peeled onion with its papery skin scattered on a wooden surface. The onion sits in the foreground, with some of the skin curled and some pieces flat beside it.
GoldenChinchilla – Reddit

Reddit user GoldenChinchilla posted this image of a head of garlic that was solid and not separated into cloves like the vast majority of garlic bulbs. This can be a problem when cooking, as recipes often specify how many cloves to use as ingredients. A reply from user coach111111 expressed: “It’s a single-clove garlic known in some places as ‘Chinese Garlic’. They’re much less flavorful than regular garlic so you can’t replace a full bulb with one of these.”

Picklehenge

Pickles arranged on a wooden board to resemble Stonehenge, with some standing upright and others laid across the top, on a patterned tablecloth background.
redzy1337 – Reddit

This “Picklehenge” is a variation of the famous Stonehenge, the megalithic monument in England. Reddit user redzy1337 decided to recreate the monument using pickles, creating a piece of bizarre food. A joking reply from user 1VBSkye commented: “I’ve been to Stonehenge and I can honestly say that looking at this, I feel like I’m there again.”

Weird Seed Banana

A hand holds a peeled banana with unusual black seeds inside, instead of the typical small, white seeds.
Thestranger61 – Reddit

Reddit user Thestranger61 revealed that wild bananas often contain large seeds. The bananas we eat have been specially bred over the years to be seedless. Those are uncultivated bananas with hard black seeds, making the an unusual example of bizarre food that can have soft flesh and are hard to eat. A reply from truthierthanreality mentioned: “Seems like it isn’t too bad, maybe if you made banana juice you would strain the seeds.”

Not So Healthy Ice Cream

Two images side by side: left shows a perfect soft-serve ice cream cone being dipped into melted butter; right shows the cone with a glossier, melted-looking ice cream coating after dipping.
crowbar_k – Reddit

Reddit user crowbar_k posted an image showing how a grocery store chain prepared ice cream cones. The workers of the grocery store chain dipped the ice cream cone into a bowl of butter, adding a decidedly unhealthy touch to this bizarre food dessert. A reply from user MoeSzyslakMonobrow commented: “It’s definitely a once per year indulgence.”

One Frozen Egg

A hand holds a frozen lemon encased in clear ice, with kitchen appliances and a plastic bag on the counter in the background.
theskinsbro – Reddit

Reddit user theskinsbro revealed that this is what a completely frozen egg looks like without its shell. The user also mentioned that he fried one to see what would happen, and he revealed it kind of just turned into a thick fried egg. This strange experiment is another example of bizarre food. A reply from user skeever-tail commented: “The fact that he put a few eggs in the bag, the one at the table, makes me think he is going to make scrambled eggs.”

Strange “Salad”

A wedge of iceberg lettuce covered in creamy dressing sits on a plate with crispy bacon slices, topped with an olive, a slice of radish, and a toothpick.
LandOfAhZ – Reddit

Reddit user LandOfAhZ’s mother ordered this dish when she asked for a salad at a restaurant. What was brought to the table was a head of lettuce, topped with processed ham, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing. Also, the user added that there is a slice of rye toast on the bottom, and the bacon is just a garnish. It’s certainly an unusual example of bizarre food.

Peach with Bag Pattern

A peach with star-shaped markings sits on a dark surface next to a small drawstring gift bag decorated with colorful stars.
ironhead633 – Reddit

Reddit user ironhead633 commented that the printing on the bag left the star shapes light while the rest of the skin darkened in the sun. He also revealed that it happened because while harvesting peaches from the trees in his backyard, he thought only one fruit had survived that season, so he put a bag and a cage around it to keep the squirrels from stealing it. The following day, he came across piece of bizarre food.

Emu Egg

A bowl of noodle soup topped with a halved boiled egg, grilled chicken, sliced red onion, and herbs, sits next to a ripe banana on a wooden surface.
RaggedMountainMan – Reddit

That’s emu egg ramen. The emu’s egg is huge, a fact made obvious when compared to the banana sitting next to the plate. Traditional ramen consists of four main structural components like noodles, broth, tare and toppings, making this an especially unusual piece of bizarre food. A reply from user TheJOJeht expressed: “At this point, you should just use the egg white as the ramen bowl.”

Quadrant Lemon

A hand in a black glove holds a lemon sliced in half, showing four distinct segments. The background has reddish and tan tiles.
vogkerja – Reddit

Reddit user vogkerja mentioned that he found a strange lemon that has quadrants at his workplace. A reply from user [borrado] expressed: “A lemon typically has between 8 and 10 sections, with an average of 8 to 9 segments. While the number can vary, most lemons fall within this range, so with four sections, you have an unusual fruit.” This makes it another example of bizarre food.

What’s The Point?

Box of Signature Select Original Pancakes showing pancakes with syrup and fruit. The box claims 8g protein per serving but also says “Not a good source of protein” in a circled area.
leonard017 – Reddit

This box of “Original” pancakes advertises that it contains protein, yet the section on the right states that it is “Not a good source of protein.” According to a reply from Reddit user ceejayvoz, these pancakes contain more protein than standard pancakes, but not enough to meet the FDA;s threshold for a “good source” claim. That makes the labeling an interesting example of bizarre food marketing.

Double Banana

A hand holds a partially peeled banana with two conjoined sections inside one peel, revealing an unusual double banana.
Eldadeo – Reddit

Reddit user Eldadeo revealed that he found a double banana and mentioned it was one skin that encompassed the two bananas. He also added that he thought it was only one extra wide banana but then when he got home he gathered all his family to open it and they all got stunned in silence. Finally, he revealed he had to break it apart, and it looked like a naturally occurring Twix. This is certainly some bizarre food.

Not Sure What It Is

A homemade rectangular pizza on foil, topped with ground beef, onions, olives, and melted cheese slices, with a pizza box visible in the background.
redrowan3 – Reddit

This dish was prepared by Reddit user redrowan3’s mother, but even the young man doesn’t know what it is. A reply from user [borrado] commented: “It’s got this dry layer, like a bread frisbee on the bottom, then some meat, or maybe some cheese, and it also has onions and green things on it, like olives.” Whatever it is, it qualifies as bizarre food.

Carrot with Natural Square Holes

Sliced carrots on a gray plate. Some slices have small square holes arranged in a pattern, while others are solid. A small carrot end is also visible.
Jimbob_Hardman – Reddit

Reddit user Jimbob_Hardman was surprised when he was cutting his carrot and found out it had natural square holes. He also mentioned he liked the idea that it had some kind of cube worms inside of it. A reply from Lady_Irish mentioned: “Those carrots received too much rain water or they were over-watered because that’s what may have caused those squares.”

Giant Cutlet, Tiny Bun

Three enormous schnitzels with small burger buns on top, served on plates with fries. Hands of a person are seen breaking a schnitzel. Glasses of drinks are in the background on the wooden table.
Sweaty_crepesS – Reddit

Reddit user BingusMcCready revealed that the sandwiches are not usually quite that big. He also mentioned they are bigger than the bun, but the image looks like it’s from a tenderloin competition. This bizarre food creation may look enormous, but much of the apparent size comes from how thinly the meat has been flattened. He also added: “It is worth noting most of its size comes from being pounded extremely flat. Basically, it’s a fried and not healthy food.”

Spiral Chili Pepper

A hand holds a red chili pepper curled into a spiral shape, resembling the number six, with a green stem. The background is a dark gray fabric couch.
South-Application-14 – Reddit

Reddit user South-Application-14 commented that this chili pepper was from his garden and it went straight to his pasta sauce. He also mentioned that the spiral chili pepper had a pretty nice flavor. A reply from user RespectedPath expressed: “It looks like the logo for some tech company that just put their logo on a different few places.” This oddly pepper is another example of bizarre food.

Angel Hair Chocolate

A person holds a box of Meronne Angel Hair Ruby Chocolate, filled with pistachio cream and cotton candy. A sale sign for $12.99 is visible on a shelf with more boxes in the background.
MrTacocoaT12345 – Reddit

A reply from Reddit user Mulholland_art expressed that this chocolate tastes like white strawberry chocolate with pistachio aftertaste. He also revealed that the fairy floss is pretty unnecessary as it made him feel like eating chocolate that fell onto Nana’s cat-hair-infused carpet. This chocolate is made by coating a shell of naturally pink ruby chocolate around a rich filling of smooth pistachio cream and Turkish cotton candy.
