Another day, another recall. This time it’s a carbon monoxide and natural gas detector that’s being pulled from shelves and websites. According to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice, using the recalled alarms may pose a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

What’s Wrong with the Recalled Alarms?
Certain DeNova Detect combination carbon monoxide and natural gas alarms may incorrectly go into sleep mode, according to the recall notice. “After alerting consumers to the presence of natural gas or carbon monoxide, the recalled alarm can go into sleep mode when the alert lasts less than four minutes,” it explains. “During this time, the alarms can fail to detect and alert consumers to a new incidence of natural gas or carbon monoxide, posing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.”
According to a recall notice from the manufacturer, the problem was found through routine internal testing and requires a firmware update to fix. No injuries have been reported.
Which Product Is Being Recalled?
Only one model of DeNova Detect Brand Combination Natural Gas and Carbon Monoxide Alarms is being recalled: Model DD622NCV. More than 26,000 units have been recalled.
Where Were the Recalled Alarms Sold?
The recalled DeNova Detect alarms were sold at Lowe’s stores nationwide, and online at Lowes.com, Amazon.com, and Denovadetect.com from December 2023 through July 2024. The purchase price was between $90 and $102.
How Can I Tell if My Alarm is Recalled?
The recalled alarms have “DeNova Detect” and “Natural Gas + Carbon Monoxide” printed on the front. The model number printed on the top side of the alarm will say DD622NCV.
What Should I Do if I Have a Recalled DeNova Detect Alarm?
The manufacturer is replacing the recalled DeNova Detect alarms at no cost. If you have one, you can call the company at 888-447-6016 Monday thru Friday 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. EST to register to receive a replacement alarm. You can also register to receive a replacement through an online form on the manufacturer’s website.
The USCPSC advises consumers to continue using the recalled alarms until you receive the replacement. The alarms will still alert you 100% of the time if a natural gas or carbon monoxide leak occurs, according to the manufacturer.
