Fast food is ridiculously expensive now, so when a good deal comes along, we’re all over it. The latest discount we’re loving? Chipotle’s new happy hour deal. It’s being tested in a few states, and we’re jealous it’s not in ours because there’s nothing better than cheap tacos — but we’re hopeful that the Tex-Mex chain rolls it out to all locations soon. Here’s all the deets, including where you can get your cheap barbacoa and carnitas fix yourself.
What Is Chipotle’s Happy Hour Deal?
Chipotle’s new deal is actually called the “real food power up” for some reason. But let’s face it, it’s happy hour and that’s all anyone’s ever going to call it.
Between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, you can get $2.50 tacos. You can choose from any of the chain’s current proteins, including the more expensive beef options like steak and barbacoa. You’ll get all the toppings you want, too — but as usual, guacamole and queso will cost you extra.
But don’t forget that at Chipotle, you can get rice, beans, fajita veggies, and as much salsa, cheese, and lettuce as you want on your tacos. Load them up and have a mini burrito for $2.50, is what we’re saying.
And while the chain is touting happy hour as a kind of snack time, we’d absolutely head there at 4:45 p.m. and grab a few tacos for an early dinner. We’re guessing we’re not alone.
The fine print? Unlike most other fast-food deals, you have to order in-store in order to get it; no online ordering allowed for this one. You also can’t combine it with other offers or promotions (not like Chipotle has a ton of those anyway), and it’s only available in certain areas.
Where Is Chipotle’s Happy Hour Deal Testing?
Unfortunately, Chipotle’s happy hour taco deal is only in its testing phase right now. It’s available in three states: Missouri, Florida, and Kansas.
Unlike many fast-food test markets, this $2.50 taco deal is at dozens of Chipotle locations in each state. So if you live in one of those states, chances are good you can get your cheap happy hour taco. Head to Chipotle’s Power Up website for a full list of locations participating in the test.
This deal is only testing through June 2, 2026, so if you want to get your hands on some cheap tacos, you’ll have to do it soon. But we’re hoping that the test phase goes well and Chipotle rolls out this deal nationwide all the time. If that happens, we’re scoring a cheap weeknight dinner on the regular.
