Chevy made waves when it unveiled its first-ever hybrid Corvette — the 2024 E-Ray — in January, and now the automaker has plans to auction off the debut E-Ray at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Auction. Prices for the E-Ray start at a whopping $104,295, so auctioning off the revolutionary ride could put plenty of money back into General Motors’ pockets. Rather than cash in, however, the company is instead donating the money it makes from selling the car to DonorsChoose, a nonprofit organization that supports US-based public school teachers by way of individually created classroom project requests.
Dubbed “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions,” Barrett-Jackson is a colossal series of auction events that’s been known to rake in hundreds of millions in hammer prices, so it’s the ideal breeding ground for Chevy to officially welcome its first hybrid Vette. The Palm Beach, Florida-based event will take place from April 13 through April 15.
The iconic vehicle is powered by the legendary V8 that’s been under the hood of every Corvette since 1955, but this model also boasts a front-mounted electric motor that powers the front wheels. Inside, drivers will be met with a futuristic dash panel complete with touchscreens including a section devoted to the car’s sought-after stealth mode setting that allows drivers to shift into electric mode for a quieter drive.

While GM promises to provide the winning bidder with their very own E-Ray, the model shown on the auction block will be a representation rather than the actual vehicle.
