We don’t really need anything but our own eyes to tell us that food prices are up this year for Thanksgiving, but it is nice to feel validated when data confirms it. A new study reveals that the cost of Thanksgiving dinner has shot up this year.
You’ll be paying just over 7% more for your Thanksgiving meal groceries this year than last, according to a new analysis by Datasembly. They looked at prices of typical name-brand items (think Ocean Spray cranberry sauce or Kraft gravy) across four national grocery stores in quantities enough to feed 8-10 people, and compared them to last year’s data. Some items went up by way more than others, and only one outlier actually decreased in price. Here are the popular Thanksgiving grocery items Datasembly tracked with prices from this year and last.
Jellied Cranberry Sauce, 12-ounce

2024 price: $2.34
2025 price: $3.41
Difference: +45.73%
By far, the Thanksgiving favorite with the most significant price increase from last year was canned cranberry sauce. You’ll be paying well over $3 for it this year, so you might want to consider making it yourself. (It’s super easy, and the recipe is on the back of most bags of cranberries.)
Stuffing

2024 price: $3.02
2025 price: $3.45
Difference: +14.24%
Considering that stuffing mix is just dried bread, crumbs, and seasonings, it’s always been overpriced, if you ask us. But this year it’ll cost you 14% more than last year if you reach for a brand like Pepperidge Farm.
Homestyle Gravy, 12-ounce jar

2024 price: $2.54
2025 price: $2.90
Difference: +14.17%
A jar of premade gravy for your mashed potatoes and to keep those turkey leftovers moist has increased just about the same amount as the stuffing this year. If your family is the kind that drowns everything in gravy (no judgment), you’ll probably need more than one jar on top of it.
Buttermilk Biscuits, 16.3-ounce, 8-count

2024 price: $3.26
2025 price: $3.63
Difference: +11.35%
Are you a biscuit house or a dinner roll house? If it’s the former, you’re going to pay about 11% more for your tube of refrigerated biscuits this year compared to last.
Original Whipped Topping, 8-ounce

2024 price: $2.15
2025 price: $2.39
Difference: +11.16%
Cool Whip deserves a spot on every Thanksgiving pumpkin pie, and a lot of the time, it’s an ingredient in favorite desserts, too. Those tubs of frozen whipped topping are up to $2.39, an increase of just over 11% from 2024.
Frozen Young Turkey, 10 pounds

2024 price: $22.50
2025 price: $24.00
Difference: +6.67%
A 10-pound whole turkey will cost you about $1.50 more this year than last year. If you’re someone who always gets the biggest turkey you can, expect to pay about $50 for that massive 20-pounder this year.
Pastry Pie Shells, 16 ounces, 2-count

2024 price: $4.38
2025 price: $4.56
Difference: +4.11%
Frozen pie shells are one of the biggest time savers at Thanksgiving, but they’ll cost you about 4% more this year. If you need to tighten the budget, this is a great place to save some money and make a pie crust from scratch — we believe in you!
Sweet Corn, 14.75-ounce can

2024 price: $1.46
2025 price: $1.49
Difference: +2.05%
Canned corn is an easy, no fuss side so you can expend your limited Thanksgiving energy on other things, like sweet potatoes. You’ll be paying a few cents extra this year, but it’s worth it for convenience.
Green Beans, 14.5-ounce can

2024 price: $1.65
2025 price: $1.67
Difference: +1.21%
Canned veggies haven’t gone up too much since last year, which is something to be thankful for. If your holiday isn’t a holiday without green bean casserole, then you’ll only pay a little over 1% more for your beans.
Russet Potatoes (10)

2024 price: $9.10
2025 price: $9.20
Difference: +1.1%
If you bought 10 large baking potatoes and paid by the pound, you’ll only be paying a little bit more than you were last year. But really, the best way to buy your Thanksgiving potatoes is by the 5-pound bag because the price is cheaper per pound.
Pumpkin Pie Mix, 30-ounce can

2024 price: $4.69
2025 price: $4.44
Difference: -5.33%
The only Thanksgiving product on this list to go down in price since last year is canned pumpkin pie mix. It decreased by a little over 5%, so if you usually make your pumpkin pie the shortcut way with premade filling, you’ll save a little compared to last year.
Basket Total

2024 price: $57.09
2025 price: $61.14
Difference: +7.09%
The total for this year’s Thanksgiving cart full of groceries would be $61.14, an increase of a little over 7% from 2024’s total. If you break that down by how much it’ll cost per person with 10 guests, that would be $6.11 per person. Last year, it cost $5.70 per person, putting the increase into perspective.
