Costco members should hold off on a sunny-side-up breakfast for a while — over 10,000 cartons of Kirkland Signature Organic Pasture-Raised 24-Count Eggs were recalled due to salmonella concerns.

Why the Eggs Were Recalled?
New York-based Handsome Brook Farms issued a voluntary recall on Nov. 27 for 10,800 cartons of Kirkland Signature Organic Pasture-Raised 24-count Eggs. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall happened after the company discovered eggs suspected of having salmonella were accidentally shipped in retail cartons instead of being held back.
Where the Recalled Eggs Were Sold
The potentially salmonella-ridden eggs were distributed beginning Nov. 22 to 25 Costco locations across five states:
- Alabama
- Georgia
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
How to Identify the Affected Products
If you’ve recently bought eggs from Costco, check your fridge for Organic Pasture-Raised 24-count Eggs in plastic cartons marked with the Kirkland Signature label and UPC code 9661910680. The recall affects only items with a Use By Date of Jan. 5, 2025, and the Julian code 327 printed on the side of the plastic egg carton.
If you have the affected eggs at home, dispose of them, thoroughly clean any surfaces they touched, and visit your local Costco store for a full refund.
What to Know About Salmonella and Symptoms
While healthy individuals might only experience symptoms like fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and possibly bloody diarrhea, salmonella can pose a serious threat to certain groups. Older adults, young children, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe or even fatal infections.
