Food recalls are an inconvenient and potentially dangerous fact of life. Each month, there are dozens of recalls due to issues such as mislabeled products or harmful bacteria. The latest? Costco recalls one of its popular ready-to-eat meals sold in the deli section, according to a recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Here’s what you need to know.

What’s Wrong with the Meals?

The recalled refrigerated meals contain green onions that may be contaminated with Listeria. That can cause listeriosis, which can be fatal in young children, the elderly, or people with weakened immune systems. So far, there have been no reports of illness related to this recall.
